It’s been a while!

Well, I have been a delinquent when it comes to my blog pages- that is for sure! Luckily it’s due to less time in front of the computer and more time spent in the great outdoors. Summer has come and gone ridiculously quickly. With the beginning of September and the step kids all in full day school now, I finally have more hours free to myself to get back in to the Ark and the Art and flagrant self promotion as well as pushing my animal rights agenda and whatever else I care to blab on about.
I have managed to climb further up my alphabet ladder. I left off here with the letters E,F,G….well, now I’m at P! I’ll attach what I’ve done to this post just to keep you in the loop. When these letters are done I plan on getting them in kids rooms and classrooms and they will be available on a print per order basis rather than how I went about my puzzles and game…no more large print runs…better for the environment and my pocket book.
Here goes…H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O….
Here’s to a productive, inspiring and active fall season!

Endangered Species Memory Game!!

I went to the manufacturer who is making the game and puzzle pieces on friday afternoon. It was so exciting to see everything in production. I got samples to take home as well copies of the information booklet that’s going in the game. Very soon I will have my games and puzzles. Yippee!
Yep, I’m giddy with excitement. This 2nd version of my Endangered Species Memory Game is ‘greener’ and better made than the first one. Fourteen out of the 36 illustrations are brand new too.
Feeling good!

Anouk’s Ark Launch Party: May 1, 2010

Putting a little buzz in your ear….the date has been set….Saturday May 1st between 1- 3pm at the St. Lawrence Market Kitchen.
There’ll be a lot happening …. just to give you a teaser, the most outrageously fun kids band will be performing – Sho Mo and the Monkey Bunch!! This is not just a band for the little ones – trust me – adults will be stomping their feet, clapping and singing along too.

It’s Really Happening!

I am getting excited! It’s been a long, interesting, educational journey to get my new products realized…but…they ARE getting realized! As I write this the images for the new Endangered Species Memory Game and the new Endangered Species 2 in 1 Puzzle Series are going to print. All made here in Toronto and greener than ever! Yahoo!
I’m in the middle of planning a big spring launch party/fundraiser too. The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada will receive a portion of all sales of the games and puzzles on the day of the launch. The hippest, most outrageously fun kid’s band EVER will be there too – Sho Mo and the Monkey Bunch !
I’ll keep you posted as to how things progress…
Here’s a mock up of what one side of one of the Endangered Species 2 in 1 Puzzle Series puzzles will look like: just click the link below!

Consumer frenzy season….

If you are reading this, obviously you have – or have access to – a computer which implies ( to me) that perhaps you may live in a part of the world that can afford to buy gifts this holiday season. We’re all bombarded every day by ads urging us to buy such and such for so and so. C’mon! Make your loved ones happy! Buy the watch, the flat screen tv, the latest box set of the hottest tv series….blah di blah blah…BLAH.
Now, what if your gift could make your loved ones happy AND help those less fortunate. That’s a win-win, right? There are lots of ways to accomplish this. Donate to a cause, an animal or an organization that appeals to your loved one’s sensibility and put the donation in his/her name. Buy online eco friendly, ethically produced, fairly traded products ( all those great buzz words!). There are a growing number of options – google away!
For example, there’s one site I recently used and would like to recommend- they source the above mentioned type gifts AND with every item you buy they tally up how many bowls of food you have helped purchase that will go to animals living in shelters and sanctuaries.
I love this one: ” 1 Darfur Relief Bead Bracelet provides two months of education or feeds a malnourished child for one week” …AND you are also providing 14 bowls of food to an animal in a shelter or sanctuary AND you are buying a beautiful bracelet. How cool is that!?!? That’s what I call a win-win-win. They are the Animal Rescue Site. Check them out and see for yourself. 🙂
